Best Ever Popcorn Chicken Recipe
Popcorn chicken is one of those dishes that never gets old. While these juicy, crispy popcorn chickens are 100% kids friendly, the big ones also enjoy them just as much.
Ingredients
- Chicken breast - 3 lb (cut into 1-inch pieces)
- Vegetable oil or canola - 1 Cup
- Buttermilk - 1 Cup
- All purpose flour - 5 tablespoon
- Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 1/2 tablespoon
- Panko crumbs - 2 Cups
Preparation:
Step 1:
In a medium bowl, combine the salt, flour, and garlic powder.
Step 2:
Pour the buttermilk into a bowl and the panko crumbs in a plate.
Step 3:
Dredge a piece of chicken into the mixture of flour until evenly coated then dip in buttermilk, letting redundant drip off. Lastly, roll in panko bread crumbs until evenly coated. Transfer to a platter.
Step 4:
Preheat 1-inch of oil in a deep frying pan on medium heat. Adjust the heat to keep the oil at 350˚F. Fry the popcorn chicken in a small batches, Flipping while frying and leaving space between each piece as needed. Fry until golden brown and 165˚F at the deepest part of the chicken.
Step 4:
Remove the popcorn chicken from the oil and let it rest on a paper tissue plate. Serve immediately with your favorite sauces!
