Crispy Air Fryer Onion Rings Recipe
Crispy & golden air fryer onion rings, just like you have at your favorite restaurant! Healthy, no oil needed & super yummy snack.
Ingredients
- Large eggs - 2
- Garlic powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
- All-purpose flour - 1/2 Cup
- Chili powder - 1 Teaspoon (optional)
- Panko bread crumbs - 1-1/4 Cups
- Kosher salt - 1/2 Teaspoon (additional for serving)
- Cayenne pepper - 1/8 Teaspoon (optional)
- Yellow medium onion - 1 (sliced crosswise into 1/2- to 3/4-inch rings)
- olive oil or Nonstick cooking spray
- Homemade BBQ Sauce for dipping (optional)
Preparation:
Step 1:
In small & shallow bowl, place flour. In an other small bowl, beat the eggs. In third bowl, mix the garlic powder, bread crumbs, chili powder, ½ teaspoon kosher salt & cayenne. Lastly, line a baking sheet with parchment paper & keep it handy to use as work surface.
Step 2:
Separate onion slices into rings. Working few at a time, dip onion rings in flour, then eggs, then bread crumb mixture, turning rings & patting panko as needed to adhere (smaller rings are easier than larger ones).
Step 3:
Place it on prepared baking sheet. Repeat all with remaining rings.
Step 4:
Preheat air fryer to 360 degrees F. Coat air fryer basket with nonstick spray.
Step 5:
Place onion rings in single layer in the basket, then mist tops with more nonstick spray.
Step 6:
Air fry the onion rings for 7 - 9 mins, till golden & crisp (no need to flip them). Remove from basket to serving plate & immediately season with pinch of salt. Repeat with remaining onions. If you had like to serve all batches hot at-once, set air fried rings aside as they finish, then reheat them all-together in single batch in air fryer for a min or two (it is OK to stack when reheating). Enjoy hot with BBQ sauce or dip of choice.
